  2. INFOBUSINESS INFORMATION USA v3.0 MULTIMEDIA CD-ROM

  7. INSTALLATION
  8. ------------
  9. * THIS INFORMATION USA version is a single user copy and cannot legally be 
  10.   installed for use over a network CD-ROM drive.
  11. * If you encounter installation problems and cannot successfully complete
  12.   the install, copy files from the \INSTALL subdirectory on the CD-ROM
  13.   to a directory on your hard drive (ie. C:\USA94)
  14.   
  15.     Example: Copy E:\INSTALL\*.* C:\USA94
  16.     
  17.   You will then need to create a program icon in Windows(TM) with the
  18.   following COMMAND LINE: 
  19.

  23.   You will need to also set the WORKING DIRECTORY TO:

  30. * If you have problems reading files from the CD-ROM or portions of the
  31.   program, check to see which CD-ROM driver is being used (ie. MSCDEX.EXE,
  32.   CORELCDX.EXE, etc.)  Check to see if you are using the latest version
  33.   or the version that is compatible with the version of DOS being used.

  36. VIDEO DISPLAY
  37. -------------
  38. * THE INFORMATION USA v3.0 was created to 
  39.   be displayed on a 640x480x256 resolution VGA+ color monitor.  
  40.   The video clips will display best in a 256 color (8 bit) mode. If you
  41.   experience display problems and you have a video card capable of
  42.   displaying 256 colors, open Windows Setup, choose the Options
  43.   command, and select a 640x480, 256-color driver.
  44.   You can still view video clips on a 16 color (4 bit) 640x480 
  45.   graphics display card/monitor, but the video may appear slightly 
  46.   grainy due to the lower color display.
  47. * Some graphics applications (Adobe Photoshop(TM), etc.)
  48.   may interfere with the color display of THE INFORMATION USA.  If you
  49.   encounter problems, try exiting the graphics application, restart 
  50.   THE INFORMATION USA, or try restarting Windows.
  51. * If the Video Clips or Movie Stills appear too dark, try adjusting the
  52.   brightness and contrast knobs on your monitor.
  53. * Be sure to have the latest video driver from your video card manufacturer.
  54.   Contact your manufacturer for the latest update.
  55.  
  56. AUDIO TRACK ON VIDEO CLIPS
  57. --------------------------
  58. * The audio on this CD-ROM requires an 8 bit sound card capable 
  59.   of playing .WAV files (Creative Labs Sound Blaster(TM), etc.) with
  60.   audio speakers or headphones connected to the sound card jacks--not 
  61.   to the CD-ROM drive audio jacks.
  62. * Be sure the volume control on your sound card is turned up (both the 
  63.   physical knob on the board and any software driven volume controls--see 
  64.   your sound board documentation for details)
  65. * For acceptable audio playback, an MPC compatible CD-ROM drive is required (a
  66.   CD-ROM capable of sustaining a 150K/second transfer rate and a maximum
  67.   seek time of 1 second while using no more than 40% of the CPU's 
  68.   processing power.)  Without a CD-ROM that maintains these rates the audio
  69.   clips may sound choppy or may not play at all.
  70. * If you have a sound board and meet the above sound requirements but you
  71.   are still unable to hear any sound, contact your sound board manufacturer
  72.   to verify that you have the correct drivers and that there are no other
  73.   conflicts.

  75. VIDEO CLIPS
  76. -----------
  77. * All clips in the INFORMATION USA v3.0 were created using Indeo 3.2.
  78.   During installation if you did not install Video for Windows 1.1 you will
  79.   not be able to play the video clips.  Earlier versions of Video for Windows
  80.   and Indeo clips can be played on the new Indeo 3.2 drivers
  81. * Video clips appear optimally when played on a video card capable of
  82.   256 colors (see above VIDEO DISPLAY section)
  83. * Most problems that occur when playing video clips are related to the version
  84.   of the video driver on your machine.  Click the HELP button then click on
  85.   System Info to see the video driver and version.  Call your video card
  86.   manufacturer to see if they have more recent drivers. (Most drivers are
  87.   updated every couple of months)
  88.  
  89. WINDOWS EMULATION PROGRAMS (Norton Desktop, PC Tools, etc.)
  90. -----------------------------------------------------
  91. * The INFORMATION USA v3.0 was developed for the standard Windows Program
  92.   Manager.  If using you are using an add-on desktop and experience problems
  93.   installing or using this product, try disabling the desktop and rerunning
  94.   the program to see if that fixes the problem
  95.  
  96. ON-LINE HELP AND SYSTEM INFO
  97. ---------------------------
  98. * Click on the Help button on the right side of each screen, the cursor
  99.   then changes to a arrow and question mark.  Click on any button for help.
  100.   Click on System Info to monitor system usage, determine driver info, check
  101.   for a Temp directory, etc.
