INFOBUSINESS INFORMATION USA v3.0 MULTIMEDIA CD-ROM
-----------------------------------------------
*****************************IMPORTANT********************************
INSTALLATION
------------
* THIS INFORMATION USA version is a single user copy and cannot legally be
installed for use over a network CD-ROM drive.
* If you encounter installation problems and cannot successfully complete
the install, copy files from the \INSTALL subdirectory on the CD-ROM
to a directory on your hard drive (ie. C:\USA94)
Example: Copy E:\INSTALL\*.* C:\USA94
You will then need to create a program icon in Windows(TM) with the
following COMMAND LINE:
<DRIVE LETTER>:\USA94\MTB30RUN.EXE <CD-ROM DRIVE LETTER>:\USA94.EXE
(Example: C:\USA94\MTB30RUN.EXE E:\USA94.EXE)
You will need to also set the WORKING DIRECTORY TO:
<CD-ROM DRIVE LETTER>:\
(Example: E:\)
CD-ROM
-------
* If you have problems reading files from the CD-ROM or portions of the
program, check to see which CD-ROM driver is being used (ie. MSCDEX.EXE,
CORELCDX.EXE, etc.) Check to see if you are using the latest version
or the version that is compatible with the version of DOS being used.
VIDEO DISPLAY
-------------
* THE INFORMATION USA v3.0 was created to
be displayed on a 640x480x256 resolution VGA+ color monitor.
The video clips will display best in a 256 color (8 bit) mode. If you
experience display problems and you have a video card capable of
displaying 256 colors, open Windows Setup, choose the Options
command, and select a 640x480, 256-color driver.
You can still view video clips on a 16 color (4 bit) 640x480
graphics display card/monitor, but the video may appear slightly
grainy due to the lower color display.
* Some graphics applications (Adobe Photoshop(TM), etc.)
may interfere with the color display of THE INFORMATION USA. If you
encounter problems, try exiting the graphics application, restart
THE INFORMATION USA, or try restarting Windows.
* If the Video Clips or Movie Stills appear too dark, try adjusting the
brightness and contrast knobs on your monitor.
* Be sure to have the latest video driver from your video card manufacturer.
Contact your manufacturer for the latest update.
AUDIO TRACK ON VIDEO CLIPS
--------------------------
* The audio on this CD-ROM requires an 8 bit sound card capable
of playing .WAV files (Creative Labs Sound Blaster(TM), etc.) with
audio speakers or headphones connected to the sound card jacks--not
to the CD-ROM drive audio jacks.
* Be sure the volume control on your sound card is turned up (both the
physical knob on the board and any software driven volume controls--see
your sound board documentation for details)
* For acceptable audio playback, an MPC compatible CD-ROM drive is required (a
CD-ROM capable of sustaining a 150K/second transfer rate and a maximum
seek time of 1 second while using no more than 40% of the CPU's
processing power.) Without a CD-ROM that maintains these rates the audio
clips may sound choppy or may not play at all.
* If you have a sound board and meet the above sound requirements but you
are still unable to hear any sound, contact your sound board manufacturer
to verify that you have the correct drivers and that there are no other
conflicts.
VIDEO CLIPS
-----------
* All clips in the INFORMATION USA v3.0 were created using Indeo 3.2.
During installation if you did not install Video for Windows 1.1 you will
not be able to play the video clips. Earlier versions of Video for Windows
and Indeo clips can be played on the new Indeo 3.2 drivers
* Video clips appear optimally when played on a video card capable of
256 colors (see above VIDEO DISPLAY section)
* Most problems that occur when playing video clips are related to the version
of the video driver on your machine. Click the HELP button then click on
System Info to see the video driver and version. Call your video card
manufacturer to see if they have more recent drivers. (Most drivers are
updated every couple of months)
WINDOWS EMULATION PROGRAMS (Norton Desktop, PC Tools, etc.)
-----------------------------------------------------
* The INFORMATION USA v3.0 was developed for the standard Windows Program
Manager. If using you are using an add-on desktop and experience problems
installing or using this product, try disabling the desktop and rerunning
the program to see if that fixes the problem
ON-LINE HELP AND SYSTEM INFO

for a Temp directory, etc.
